Welp. A combination of poor shooting and a barrage of questionable fouls led to a Bama Hoops loss on the road.
At one point in the game, the Tide’s leading scorer Retin Obasohan, Jimmie Taylor, Michael Kessens and Donta Hall were all on the bench due to foul trouble. All would foul out by the end of the night. What was block on one end of the court was a charge on the other. The entire night seemed random. But, the disaster could not be attributed to fouls alone.
Bama shot a meager 33% from the field and 25% from the behind the three point line. Obasohan again led the Tide from the field with 23 points.
All is not lost for March, however. Realistically, Bama will need to finish SEC play around 7-3 and win 2 in the SEC Tournament for a shot at the Big Dance. While not probable, it is possible by closing out the home slate and taking 2 of the remaining 5 road games. The most realistic of those 2 road games are at Mississippi State and Georgia (the remainder being Kentucky, LSU and Florida).
Any slips and the Tide will likely find itself in the NIT barring a deep SEC Tourney run, which frankly is a step above expectations this year anyway.
